Graduation Gift Ideas

May 12, 2016

Graduation season is upon us; whether you're graduating from high school or college, it signifies the end of one chapter in your life and the beginning of a new one. I remember the whirl of emotions that came with graduating high school - sadness at saying goodbye to friends and excitement for what was to come - and now as I watch my senior friends move on from college, I'm experiencing that same bittersweet feeling. While I'm sad that I won't get to hang out with them all the time, I know that God has incredible things in store for their futures.

Saying goodbye is never easy, but I've rounded up some gift ideas for your graduating loved ones that will remind them of you every time they use them.

I know one thing that really made life a lot easier when I started college was a wristlet that could also hold not only cash and IDs, but also my phone. If I ever wanted to just go out with friends or eat at the dining hall, I wouldn't have to lug along a heavy backpack or a cumbersome purse. // Phone Case Wristlet

Dogeared necklaces are a great option for sentimental gifts. I love that each design has a special meaning behind it; there are a variety of options for whatever occasion you're buying for. // "Accomplish Great Things" Dogeared Necklace

Pictures are a dorm room must-have; they're a constant reminder of loved ones back home. Framing a favorite memory is an extra special touch and makes for a nice dorm decoration. // Picture Frame

When one of my best friends graduated high school, our other friends and I created a college survival kit for her. We included tea, snacks, a pillow pet, basically anything that will make a unfamiliar place feel a little more like home.

Studying is important but it's also important to take time to relax and hang out with friends. A Netflix subscription is an inexpensive and definitely highly appreciated gift for your college-bound loved one.

A soft, warm plush throw blanket is perfect for snuggling in during those Netflix marathons. It also keeps you comfy all throughout exams season and those dreadful all-nighters; personally, I lived in my blanket during finals - no shame in carrying it around campus! // Plush Throw

A business card holder is a very practical gift for the grad that's entering the corporate world. It's a handy place to keep track of all the connections they've made and their own business cards. // Business Card Holder

Once college is over, its a lot less socially acceptable to carry around a backpack wherever you go. A high quality tote bag that can hold a laptop, papers, etc. is a must-have for the working professional. // Tory Burch Tote

A subscription box like one from Birchbox or Naturebox makes a very thoughtful gift for a college grad; they're entering the adult world and have to do adult things like balancing a budget, paying taxes, etc so they may not have the funds or the time to treat themselves. It also makes for a nice surprise in the mailbox each month! // BirchboxNaturebox

A timeless, stylish watch is a great addition to a working adult's professional wardrobe. // Kate Spade Watch

When you're busy and constantly on-the-go, it's impractical and time-consuming to plug your phone into a wall charger. A portable phone charger is an incredibly useful gift that will definitely end up saving the day in the future. // Mobile Charger

If you really have no idea what to get your college grad, a pre-paid giftcard is always your best bet. It could be a gas or metro card if you want to be practical, or a restaurant card if you want them to treat themselves.

I hope this gave you ideas about what to get your grad. Congratulations to the class of 2016; you're going to go far and do big things!
